Not enough time in my day!

Seems like this is a recurring theme in my posts-I could use a couple more hours each day. But when I'm busy, I'm happy!

I've just had a great visit with my oldest granddaughter from Seattle-she shares my love of sewing, quilting and crafts. She started a nine patch quilt while she was here, using squares that a friend had cut out and given to me, knowing how much I love scrap quilts. I was so impressed with her sewing skills-her quarter inch seam was precise and straight. Her color selections were great - she has a better grasp of contrast than I do. 

The weather is finally getting better here - it is actually in the 60 degree range right now (but it will get to the 90s by noon). Still much better than it was. I have started training again for a 5K run in November-but running on my treadmill is not the same as running outside so I'm looking forward to early morning runs at the track. The cooler weather is what I have needed to start pushing a little harder. My six year old grandson is running in the same race- he told me he was going to "leave me in his dust". He probably will!

I'm not sure what this is going to look like on the blog since I'm writing it on my iPad - I've attached a couple of pictures - one of my granddaughter and one of the beginnings of a quilt I am making with 9 patches (3 inch) from a swap we are doing in my small quilting group. I'm liking it.

Great weekend

It was another beautiful weekend in Texas! My hubby and I worked outside in the yard and cleaned the chicken coop! Sounds like a really yucky job, but it really is not bad! And the "girls" reward us with such lovely and delicious eggs! After Mass, Saturday evening we went to a concert presented by the Tri-County Choral group -they were wonderful! The grand kids spent the night with us, and that is always a treat. Sunday, Glenda came over and quilted with me- we had a fun time visiting and planning for next weekend's quilting retreat. More on that later - I'll post pics of that fun weekend. I finished the second quilt for my daughter, Angela, in Seattle. I think it turned out quite well.

Another finish!

My daughter in Seattle sent me a couple of quilt tops to quilt that had been made by second grade First Communion students in the school where she teaches.  These quilts will be given to sick children when they are finished!  I finished the first last night and put it in the mail today.  I just did a simple meander on it, but it turned out well.

 I asked my daughter if she was going to bind it herself, and had she ever bound a quilt before.  She told me that she hadn't but that Amy, her 12 year old daughter (and one of my very special granddaughters!) had bound the quilt that she made and she could show her how!  Love it!!

Busy life

The weather is just beautiful here in Texas right now.  Spring is my favorite time of year.  My yard is green - around here if it is green and grows, we call it a lawn, even if most of it is weedy!  It is still pretty.  My hubby has been known to mow around the weedy flowers just so I'll have something pretty to look at!  He also mows around birds nests that are on the ground until the birdies have hatched. Before Easter, he also mowed mazes in the back so the grand kids would have places to hide eggs.  They loved it!   So if you drive by my house and notice that there are some unmowed areas, that is the reason.

My tomato plants are blooming - and the weeds are threatening to take over the garden already!  We've already had lots of asparagus, and I've used some of my herbs in cooking!  It should be a great year for gardening if we have enough rain, and fewer water restrictions than last year.






I've been so busy at work that I haven't gotten a lot of quilting done, but I have finished a quilt for my friend, Sonya.  Below is a pic of her quilt on the Gammill.

I'm off to the post office and for a walk with my hubby - actually we are combining both and walking to the post office to mail a package.  Multi-tasking!  Have a wonderful day!

Catching up

It has been over a month since I've had time to update everyone.  I have been busy and stressed and just could not bring myself to sit down at night and write anything!  I have quilted several quilts and I didn't even take pictures of them!  My quilting group at our library decided to make a quilt to donate to the library for fund raising, so we are in the process of putting that one together.  It will be Bonnie Hunter's Texas Braid - and it is looking good.  When I get a few more rows put together I'll take a picture and post it!  I know I will be buying several raffle tickets for this one!

I have a quilt from a friend on the Gammill right now - it is a beautiful quilt with wildflower print fabrics and wildflower photos combined.  I am quilting it with a freehand flower and leaf motif - so far it looks good

I don't have a lot of time each evening to work in my studio since I'm working more hours with my husband these days, but I try to have several projects lined up and ready when I do get to quilt.  My weekends are my prime time for quilting and sewing - and I love to have friends come over and "play" with me.  

Last fall, one of my uncles, my Uncle Charlie, passed away - he was such a sweet guy - was a WW2 vet.  He will be sorely missed.  I went to be with my cousin for the funeral preparations, and we had a lot of moments talking about memories and times past.  Her mother, Aunt Bea, was a special lady, too, - we lost her several years ago - but she was my inspiration.  She was quite the homemaker and seamstress, and she always had words of wisdom for me when I visited.  While I was there, my cousin, Susan,  pulled out a sack with an unfinished hexagon quilt in it - and gave it to me. I was so touched and honored that she would share it with me, and  I promised myself that I would work on finishing it for her.  I pulled it out tonight and pressed the pieces that Aunt Bea had cut out, and planned on what I needed to do to it.  It is all stitched by hand - no English paper piecing - just cut out hexies.  It needs some repairs - and I will do that by hand.  I almost set down to the sewing machine to stitch up a couple of blocks, but I stopped and decided that I would do this the "old fashioned way" . I made a template to cut more hexies out of freezer paper, and cut (using scissors - no rotary cutter!) several more pieces for the quilt.  I don't know if I'll go so far as to say I'll hand quilt it because after all, I am a long-arm quilter!  But I will stitch the rest of it by hand!

On my birthday, my cousin sent me the little handwork box that her mother made and used and it sits by my chair in the living room - and it will hold hexies while I'm working on this quilt.  Thanks, Susan, for sharing this with me!

Time to go to bed!  My hubby just stuck his head in the room and asked me if I was coming, and Chico is even ready to call it a night!   We have a busy day tomorrow!

It has been a very busy time in our household!  Christmas came and went, and I'm still behind!  I've done some quilting, some knitting, some general sewing, but mostly, I've worked!  My husband and I have a business ( since 1983) and this economy has been hard on it.  We have downsized, and that meant laying off people - so sad, because they had worked with us for many years, and are like family.  We hope to climb out of this hole soon, but in the meantime, I am doing the job that used to be done by two people.  I am missing my assistant - she was the one that was the backbone of the office!  When I get home at night, I'm tired.  And there is still stuff at home to do!  The creative juices are still there, but there is just not enough time to create!  We are in the process of moving the office home and that is a good thing.  But it takes a lot of time and energy to do your job, pack stuff so you can find it when you move, and organize the new home office.  There's not a lot of time left over for anything else.  I keep telling myself that this too shall pass.   I just wish it would hurry and that I didn't have to go through it!  

Enough of my whining!

I did get a baby quilt made for my assistant's grand baby before she left!  It was a cute panel print and was super easy, but it turned out really nice.  

I've also made a couple of pincushions - they were so easy!  I did the embroidery on my Bernina, sewed and stuffed them - it was a quick project, and sometimes a person needs something to kick start them - this was it for me!

I'm working on several projects right now - I finished the embroidery and the piecing on the Raggedy Ann and Andy quilt that I'm making for a special little girl named Sarah, shown in the picture below being held by my hubby!  

It will be the next quilt on my Gammill. I'll post a pic when I get it on the machine! The pattern is from The Painted Quilt blog designed by Kaaren Johnston.  She is such a talented lady and has designed many beautiful quilts and wall hangings.  I did one of her wall hangings as a gift for our hostess for my trip to Illinois and Kentucky back in the summer.

This weekend, I'm meeting with the Library quilting group to make a donation quilt for our little library here in town.  We've decided to do a Texas Braid - pattern by Bonnie K. Hunter.  I'll take pics - it should be a lot of fun, and will be used as a fund raiser for new books and programs.

The new Jennifer Chiaverini book, The Wedding Quilt was the prize - it is a great book - I've already read most of it and am enjoying it!  But that's not all - Linda is amazing.  She included a beautiful hand tatted bookmark with it - she is multi talented.  Not only does she quilt, but she knits and tats.  Wow!

To top it off, she also included a really cute bag - it a called the Perfect Pouch by Lazy Girl!  Beautiful!  I love it.  It is perfect as a carrier for books, or - my IPad!  I am so happy with all my goodies!  Thank you so much, Linda, for everything!

I have finally finished my Christmas shopping - except for my dear hubby.  We have been remodeling our bathroom and we both decided that getting it retiled would be our gift to each other.  But I want to get him a little something to put in his stocking - anyone have any ideas?  I'll post pics of the new, improved bathroom when we get further along.  It is going to be great!

Three more days until Christmas, and I'm almost ready.  I still have grocery shopping to do, and one more potholder to make, and the house to clean!

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is almost here and I’m so behind that I’ll never catch up, but that’s ok!  I’m at that stage where it doesn’t really matter that my house is not decorated like a magazine layout.  The tree is up, the Advent wreath is sitting on the kitchen table, and most gifts are purchased or made or in the process of being finished.  I have five days in which to finish.  Yahoo!!! 

I didn’t realize I hadn’t blogged in a while, and when I checked my blog I was so surprised.  Over a month – almost two.  I guess that I think about it every day, and write in my head – it just never makes it to the computer.  So, one of my resolutions this year is to update the blog at least once a week! 

Running is ….. not so good.  It has gotten cold and I’m just not good with the cold weather.  I still get on the elliptical machine and work out, but just can’t put on my running shoes in cold weather to run outside.  I have great admiration for anyone who can – I won’t say I never will, but at this point – no can do.  Maybe someone can give me some pointers to make the process of running in the cold, rain, snow, or otherwise bad weather a little more enticing.  Any suggestions? 

 

On to Christmas!  Last year, I made scarves for the stockings for everyone, and I can remember finishing up the last one on Christmas Eve!  They were a hit, so I decided to make aprons this year for the females in the family.  My hubby will take care of the males!  After completing the aprons, I realized that they would not fit into the stockings, so I have started making matching potholders for the stockings, and after they have found them,  I’ll present the girls with their aprons.  The only daughter who reads this blog is in Seattle, and I’ve already mailed hers (and one for the granddaughter there).  If you read this, Ang, I’ll be mailing your matching potholder after Christmas!! 

We have lots of changes taking place at our house – we are downsizing our family business and moving the office home.  I’m really kind of excited about it, because that means I’ll be closer to my studio and during down times, I can quilt!!  My hubby is getting close to retirement, and the contracting business is very slow right now.  We have been hard hit by this bad economy and I hurt for those who have lost their jobs.  My prayers are that this next year will be better for everyone. 

The week after our daughter’s wedding, my lovely step mother passed away.  Lora was loved by everyone.  She and my Dad got married after my mother died in 1998, and even though I missed my mom, I knew that Lora and Dad were perfect together.    Even though I lost my wonderful mother, I gained a great stepmother, and a new family of two sisters and a brother.   It was like a bonus family in my adulthood!  My father died five years ago, but that did not end our relationship with our stepmom.  She was so wise, not to mention a great cook, and was such a Christian lady!  I will miss her so much. 

A week after we lost Lora, one of my uncles died.  He was in his 90’s, and had lived a long and full life, but he will be sorely missed.  Uncle Charlie was so much fun.  I remember visiting him and Aunt Bea and going to the beach, playing in the surf, and building sandcastles.  I played with my cousins, and we were very close.  Uncle Charlie had lost two sons, and his wife and he was ready to go.  He missed them and knew that they were waiting for him, and even though it is hard to let someone go like him, we give thanks for his life and know that we will meet again someday. 

As you can see, we have had some ups and downs lately – One wedding and two funerals – kinda sounds like a movie plot, doesn’t it?

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year – I love the family get togethers, the food, the traditions we have established for our family, and especially, the “reason for the season”.    As the children have grown up and established their own family traditions, it makes me smile to see that they continue some of those rituals that we had when they were little. 

Running progress, a wedding, and Ghastlie winnings!

I don't know where the time goes, but it does past swiftly. So - to catch up :

Running - I am still sticking with the training program - but haltingly.  I run slower that my lovely 11 year old granddaughter walks.  Of course, her legs are longer than mine, and I have a few years on her, but when we are at the track, she laps me at least a couple of times each evening.  But I'll keep plugging along.  I'm not loving it, because I am a true couch potato!  I know it is good for me to keep moving, so that is motivation enough!

The wedding of our youngest daughter was on Saturday - it was wonderful.  The bride was beautiful, the groom was handsome, the ceremony was meaningful, and the reception was a lot of fun.  My favorite moment was the Daddy-Daughter dance.  My wonderful hubby danced with the bride, and then danced with the rest of his daughters - including our lovely daughter-in-law.  We are so blessed that our children have found spouses that become part of our family so easily.  Our new son is everything I could wish for our baby daughter - we could not have hand picked anyone better suited to her.  They leave tomorrow for their honeymoon and will be gone for two weeks - we will miss them!  

Now for the Ghastlie News - I hope you have been following the Ghastlies Blog Hop, sponsored by Madame Samm of "Sew We Quilt".  I have so enjoyed all the fun projects that bloggers have done using the fun "ghastlie" fabric line, and I have entered to win all the prizes.  I rarely win anything, so you can imagine my surprise this past week when I got an email from Ms. Karen Ghastlie saying I was the winner of her blog prize, and also that I was the winner on Madame Samm's blog -

This is what I won from Karen:  a cute "ghastlie" mini quilt, three hand knit mug rugs, and a skein of beautiful thread.  I received four yards of Alexander Henry's ghastlie fabric from Jane's Fabrics and Quilts as the prize from Madame Samm!  I'll photograph that later - it came in the mail today.  Now I just need to decide what to do with the fabric!  It has been a great week!

Running - really?

I tried something new tonight - not in the least quilty. My middle daughter, Jen, talked me into going with her to a "Couch potato to 5 K" running class.  A little history would probably help this scenerio - I am not an athletic person.  I am fine with that.  But, this year, I have been trying to get healthy, lose weight, and gain more energy, so I thought this might be ok.  I can do this.  I even went out and bought new running shoes!

Cute, huh!  I am 64 years old, a certified couch potato who hates exercise, and I thought this would be a good idea!  The session started out easily - a five minute warm up walk, 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking repeated for 20 minutes.  Let's just say I found out just how out of shape I am.  I made it through the 20 minute session, just barely, then proceeded to throw up everything I had eaten for dinner (and maybe for lunch - who know!)  I am fine, I just got really hot and tired.  I also will never have what I had for dinner again - ever.  I hate throwing up!  After a shower and a protein drink, I am feeling much better.

Will I do this again on Wednesday?  I'm going to sleep on that decision.  Things may look different in the morning.

I'm even to tired to do any quilting!

Friday musings

It's finally Friday and I'm seriously ready for some weekend time.  I finished quilting a lovely Hawaiian shirt quilt this week, but did not take pictures - you'll just have to imagine how lovely it was.  I also worked on the Vintage Valentine quilt, and on one of the antique quilts that I am repairing and adding borders to before I quilt them.  So, I have done a little quilting.

I didn't share about the trip I took to Illinois and Kentucky with my friend, Glenda.  It was so much fun and so relaxing!  We visited with a cousin of Glenda's, went to a quilt show, and visited the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky.  I was overwhelmed by the talent at both the quilt show and the museum, and came home with a new resolve the work on my quilting and improve the quality.

The Quilt Show was in Metropolis, Illinois (yes, the home of Superman)  - that is me standing by the statue!



I understand that the city has a Superman celebration in June every year - now that should be fun!  But it is also home to lots of history and beautiful parks, too.  We visited Fort Massac State Park, where they have encampments and battle reenactments of the Revolutionary War battles every October.  On the Ohio River, it is a beautiful site.    The quilt show was presented by the Massac Quilters Guild - they have some very talented quilters in their guild.  Glenda took lots of pictures - I didn't - but she has promised to share with me!  The National Quilt Museum was wonderful - I plan on revisiting it again - there is just too much to digest at one time.  I was most amazed by the collection of miniature quilts - so intricate, with quilting stitches so impossibly small.  We were not allowed to take pictures in the museum, so you'll just have to go see for yourself.

Now that I'm home again, with new resolve, there are several things going on in my life that are taking center stage.  First, our daughter's wedding will be in a few weeks, so we are picking up speed on the details.  I still don't have a dress to wear, but shopping is planned for the near future.  I don't know about the bride, but I know that the mother of the bride is getting a little nervous about all the details.  Let's see - church-check, reception venue - check, food - check, limo - check, wedding dress - check, photographer - check, DJ - check, invitations - check, flowers - still working on it, and on and on.  

This should be a wonderful weekend - I have some quilting planned, and a new book to read.  Plus, my middle daughter has talked me into a new venture - I'll tell you all about it next week.  I'm a bit anxious about this one!  Until then, create something wonderful!

Loving the Weather!

The weather this past weekend and today is wonderful!  It is in the 80's and the sun is shining.  Since we have had many, many days of over 100 degree heat, this is heavenly!  I have opened windows and turned the AC off.  The weatherman tells us that the temps will go up again next week, but maybe, just maybe he/she is wrong!  I'd like for this to continue for awhile.  Some rain would also be welcome.
 
The wind has been blowing, and the drought we have been in is causing a lot of people a lot of grief.  There have been numerous wildfires all around Texas, and our heart goes out to those who are hurting.  I cannot even imagine what it must be like to lose everything you have to a fire - our prayers are with them as they heal.

I have been busy with customers quilts and have had little time to work on my own, but this weekend I took a break and got out a work in progress that has been around for several years.  It is an appliqued "Vintage Valentine" that was a block of the month at my LQS.  I kept up pretty well until the final block which was the medallion, and then three of the blocks were lost for several months.  So, it all got put in a box and shoved under the table.  I took it out, trimmed the blocks to the proper size and laid it out on the floor of the studio.  Now I am ready to border and quilt it.  If I'm really efficient, I might get it done before a certain wedding and it would make a nice surprise gift.  I am trying to embellish it some more, but I might wait until I finish quilting it.  Here's a pic I took of my studio floor last night!

School has started here and my Texas grandkids are back in the groove.  The youngest started kindergarten this year and loves it.  My daughter sent a pic to me of the first day of class for both of them - I thought I would cry - I have many memories of my children on the first day of school. We took similar pics of them every year!

My other grandkids from the Northwest started school this week - I am waiting for those pics! 

I'm going on a road trip with a friend this next weekend, so I'll have a lot to report when I get back. Until then - spend some time in your studio and have fun.

 

Busy life!

It has been a while since I've blogged, but I've been busy, busy, busy!   Hubby and I went to New Orleans for a convention, and had a great time!  Two of our daughters went to college there, so we were pretty familiar with the city, but we still managed to find new places, new restaurants and met new friends!  We had beigneits and coffee, barbequed shrimp, gumbo, and hurricanes, walked until our feet were sore, and rode the streetcar many times!!  It was a fun trip! 

I finished a baby quilt for a little baby boy named Lucas, and sent it to the Northeast with my oldest daughter for delivery.  It was made of floating four patches - great use for scraps - and was quilted with a cute freeehand leaf pattern.  As you can see, it is very colorful!

I also quilted a star quilt for a friend - it was really large and the pic doesn't do it justice - I'm not sure I'd even attempt it!  I did a dense meander and it looked great .  It is to be a gift for her grandmother - hope she likes it!

My hubby has been busy with stuff around the homestead - he put up a new flagpole in the front yard - got this pic of him digging the hole to install it.  He loves his tractor - and is always finding new ways to use it.  I told him I wanted to plant some fruit trees and he was excited - he told me he could dig those holes using the auger on the tractor - doesn't take much to please him.  I do think the tractor takes second place to his golf clubs, though.  He tried to teach me to play a few years ago, but I was so terrible, he gave up.  I am not athletically inclined - but I never lost a golf ball - didn't hit it but ten feet at a time!  So, while he golfs, I quilt.  I admire that he plays so well, and he admires my handiwork.  It's a good system!

We have a full summer and fall ahead of us - we are wedding planning.  Our youngest daughter is getting married in October, so life is wonderful!  We have dresses purchased (except for mother of the bride), venues, photographers, limos, and DJ's booked, and are working on the rest of the details.  What is more exciting is that we are gaining another son - they are a great couple and we couldn't be happier! 

Quilty and gardening weekend

It was a beautiful weekend - sunny, warm, too pretty to stay indoors!  Hubby and I worked on the veggie garden - he brought home a pickup load of compost and we filled the raised beds.  Then we went to a friend's house and bought lots of bedding plants - tomatoes, peppers, herbs, squash, and kale.  It is all planted and I still have room for more!  This week we will tackle the flower beds.

I also worked on a quilt I still have on the frame, and organized the studio some more.  We got my new design boards up and I am pleased with how they look.

Progress - finally

It has been a busy, stressful few weeks, and I have had little time to go to my studio and play!  But, I have finally gotten to do that.  This week, my hubby and I both had some kind of bug, and we both stayed home from work on Monday, and part of Tuesday.  Today, I went to the office, but came home at lunch and slept all afternoon.  I really feel much better tonight! 

I am quilting a really pretty quilt for a friend and made some progress tonight.  It is a queen size quilt top, and is going to take longer than I thought it would.  I am quilting it freehand using one of Dawn Ramirez 's (the Pajama Quilter!) designs.  She made it look so easy in her video, and I used it in my Mystery Quilt on the piano key border.  It is fun and very forgiving. 

It should be finished by this weekend. 

I'm also working on a Raggedy Ann and Andy redwork quilt designed by Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt blog.  It is so cute, and is a great stash buster quilt!  The first block is finished and I have block 2 and 3 in progress.  It will make a really cute baby quilt! 

Spring came for a few days, and then cold and wet weather hit again - that could explain my hubby's and my nasty bugs.  But it is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, so I can get out and finish planting the garden.  Hubby cleaned out all the raised beds for me last week, so I have no excuses left!  I'll post pics when I get it all planted!  Any suggestions on what I should plant this year!?

Spring is almost here!

I love Spring!  The flowers, trees, warm weather, - everything!  The trees around our house are blooming now, with little green leaves showing up, too.  I found asparagus coming up in my garden, and the chickens are once again laying well.  I just need another hour or two of daylight every day to get the garden ready for planting, and all will be right with the world! 

The playhouse is almost finished (finally)!  All we need to do is to caulk and paint, and then let the grandkids move in!  Their great aunt Patti has sent them a doormat (a cute frog!), a doorbell, and some battery operated lamps!  I'm sure we'll be doing some serious decorating soon.

UFO's

I noticed that I'm supposed to finish UFO #4 this month - oh, dear, that is my "Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll" - and I'm having a really slow start on it.  If I work on nothing else, I might get it halfway done this month, but there are still a lot of things I need to finish first - like the three quilts in line to be quilted for others!

I finished the binding on my Mystery Quilt - which I will call "Procrastination"  because I put off finishing it for so long.  It will hang on the wall overlooking the entry to our home - replacing a quilt that has been there for over ten years, and could use a good washing  and retirement on someone's bed!

Texas weather - gotta love it.  This past week it was beautiful!  Today, cold and windy.  I guess Spring is not quite here yet.  I had planned on cleaning out the garden today, but it is a bit chilly! No - make that cold.  My dear hubby said he would begin clearing out some of the weeds, but he got sidetracked trying to put up trim in the playhouse.  There is always tomorrow.

Beautiful weather!

We have a saying here in Texas - if you don't like the weather, just wait a week!  Last week we had ice and snow and very cold weather, and this week it has been wonderful.  It should hit a high of 78 degrees today - a little cloudy and breezy, but I am without the coat and scarf and am loving it! 
I haven't quilted much in the past few days - I've been busy at the office and have had meetings or volunteer stuff in the evenings and by the time I get home, feed hubby (not to mention gather eggs, feed chickens and dog) I'm pooped and ready for bed. 
I've almost finished quilting my country mystery quilt - it has been fun.  I am doing SID on the pieced blocks, and trying out some new fill patterns on the applique blocks.  It is taking a lot of time, but it has been rewarding.  I am still learning so much each time I use my Gammill.
While surfing the web the other night, I came upon a blog by Arlette called Polka Dot Pineapple.  She had a tutorial for the cutest pin cushion - I went right upstairs and made one.  I'll post a pic of mine later, but for now here is a link to her blog:  http://mousechirpy-polkadotpineapple.blogspot.com/ - she has several very cute projects and lots of tutorials.  Love it!!

Catching up

It's been a while since I've blogged - so much has happened!  Family wise - I spent 10 days in the Northwest with my oldest daughter and her family while she had surgery, so I was totally out of the loop for awhile.  I did take some knitting and crochet with me, and got some done, but have no finishes to show!  (More UFO's!)

I got back home last weekend and am slowly digging out and catching up on work.  We are home today because of icy, snowy weather here in North Texas.  Sunday it was beautiful here - sunny, warm - almost balmy - but last night winter returned with a vengeance.  My poor dog doesn't even want to poke his nose outside.  The roads are icy, so we stayed home.  I brought work home with me, so I'll tackle that this afternoon.

I'm almost finished with the January UFO challenge quilt - it is on the long arm machine right now and I'm slowly finishing it.  I have the binding on the little table runner and I really do like it.

The weatherman said it was only going to get colder tonight and tomorrow, so I plan on another day at home - I might even finish quilting my Mystery Quilt.  I promise that I'll blog more often this month!
